That being said email marketing still outperforms all other marketing channels in terms of cost and return on investment and there are steps you can take to effectively build relationships online that will mitigate the discontent where it exists.</p><p>If you have never created an email campaign the easiest way to get started is to simply examine the marketing emails you receive. There are numerous online resources that can assist the newbie email marketer but for those of you who have some experience with email marketing campaigns this post will cover optimization of your email marketing and improvement of your email marketing results.</p><p>Formatting the copy</p><p>The format of your email is critical. Important information goes at the top and I mean the very top of the email. Though it is common practice in most businesses to put a graphic header in the email this is a classic mistake. Most email readers now block images by default forcing your recipient to take an extra step to see your graphic content. This is unlikely as your reader scans through several dozen or more emails. Business users typically use the preview pane in outlook to aid in the scanning of email content. An image header in this view will appear as a blank space or just the alt tag for the image. These users give far less weight to emails that are not formatted for their ease of use.</p><p>The Subject Line</p><p>Subject lines should be short, catchy and relevant to the email content.</p><p>Bad example:</p><p>Webinar &#8211; Learn how to maximize your email marketing for increased productivity and ROI</p><p>Better example:</p><p>Email marketing roundup, productivity and ROI</p><p>Best example:</p><p>Top 5 Tips email marketing ROI</p><p>Start with a well defined subject line. In the three examples above you can see how each subject would lead you to take a completely different approach to the same content.</p><p>Layout Style</p><p>There are two primary layouts used in business email. Single link Event/Promo style and Multi-link Newsletter style. Each has a specific use. You have probably seen and may even be tempted to create a newsletter style marketing email with offers and special sales and incentives but this is a mistake. Our research has shown that customers respond far more favorably to a single purpose marketing email but wont scan through a newsletter style promotion to compare the various sales offers. Newsletter subscribers on the other hand will anticipate the longer newsletter format and scan through multiple story excerpts looking for relevant content but will also be turned off by newsletter disguised sales promotions.</p><p>Using Layout style to your advantage</p><p>Do create a newsletter that outlines headline news and interesting story lines and then send separate periodic single purpose marketing emails to promote events or special promotions. Studies have shown that an average customer takes 3 marketing touches for brand awareness and 5 marketing touches before the sale. So it is to your advantage to send separate emails over a period of weeks rather than trying to jam everything into one newsletter style email.</p><p>Tracking and Metrics</p><p>Most any email marketing service provider will have the standard tracking tools available.</p><p>You want to track:</p><p>Deliver-ability and Bounce Rate (Are my emails being received?)</p><p>Opens (Are my emails being read?)</p><p>Click-through (Is my content generating interest?)</p><p>Keep a log of these metrics and compare percentage change from email to email and month to month. This will allow you to measure the impact of subject lines (Opens) and content offers (Click-through) . Over time you may see certain offers resonate with your customers better than others. Use this information to improve your email marketing effectiveness.</p><p>Marketing Management</p><p>Create a calendar of your fiscal year and break that into four quarters. Now notate all trade shows dates you will be presenting/attending. Around each of these dates you can anticipate sending an invite to your prospect list. You can also plan your monthly newsletter. Now look at what remains in each quarter and plan another 3 to 5 promotions that will go to your house list and other rented or 3rd party promotions. This calendar approach will commit you to driving a full force email marketing effort that will give you the highest possible returns.</p><p><a

You must have a system in place to acquire the name and contact information of people that may be interested in your product or service. Lead generation is one of the most important aspects of internet marketing online and a must when it comes to growing a successful business.</p><p>In the old days of online email marketing, you had more latitude to do this. There was nothing wrong in sending out emails to people who had not requested one as long as you did not go overboard with it. Unfortunately many people did just that and by doing so added an old word with a new meaning to our vocabulary: spam. The good news is some people had a better idea and went to work creating email marketing lead capture pages also known as name squeeze.</p><p>Name squeeze is the act of setting up one or more web pages whose sole purpose is to entice visitors to leave their contact information thereby joining your opt in email list. The email marketing lead capture form can include phone number and address but all you need really is the visitor&#8217;s name and email address. These pages often times are used as doorways that lead you to the main website.</p><p>Email Marketing Lead capture pages are pretty straightforward. If done properly, you cannot be accused of spamming or tricking someone to leave their information since you have stated clearly that for the person to get a free gift, more information or access to your web pages they must agree to join your opt in email list.</p><p>In other words you are building a database of customers who are ALREADY interested in what you have to tell them. I don&#8217;t say they will automatically buy your product or service but as long as they remain on your opt in email list, you have the opportunity to present countless offers to them. Just make sure you can them quality information on a consistent basis and not just a daily sales pitch.</p><p>There are 3 ways to use lead capture pages that can explode you online business:</p><p>1. Building List Marketing</p><p>If you have never heard the phrase &#8220;the money is in the list&#8221;, welcome aboard and get use to it. It has become a pretty standard cliché among internet marketers because it&#8217;s true. The name squeeze technique moves people to take action while limiting their options. This is a good thing since too many choices has a tendency to confuse people. For instance if you offer a free report on your name squeeze page, people have only two actions to choose from: sign up to get the report or leave. A good email marketing lead capture page can build you a massive opt in mailing list of targeted customers.</p><p>2. The One Time Offer.</p><p>You have peaked the interest of your visitors to the point they take action and sign up to your email marketing list. However instead of being immediately taken to the free report or given access to your website, they land on a page that offers a specific product or service related to your niche that is available for purchase. Welcome to the one time offer page.</p><p>This technique has made a lot of money for some online business owners. The theory behind it is, since people are in the frame of mind to get more information then this is a good opportunity to lead them to a quality offer related to that niche. The groundwork for your one time offer has been put in place by your squeeze page. This practice may not be for every situation but if used properly it can be a very profitable website marketing tool for your business</p><p>3. What Do They Want?</p><p>You already know that people who have joined your email marketing list via your squeeze page are interested in what you have to say but what else? You can change the topic on your lead capture page or just design several different squeeze pages to identify other potential hot markets. Set up some kind of tracking system to find out what pages are generating the most interest.</p><p>Learning to maximize web site traffic maybe the lifeblood of doing business online but it doesn&#8217;t mean a thing if people click to your site then leave without taking any action. Email marketing lead capture pages can not only go a long way to your web visitors taking action but also ensuring the success of your internet business.</p><p><a

The only cost that can arise is the cost of an auto responder, some of them are free but I would not recommend them. Other than purchasing an auto responder your email marketing expenses are nil. That is why this internet marketing technique is one of the most viable on the internet.</p><p>The key is building a permission based list of email addresses that you can market to. When I refer to market I don’t mean sending them emails everyday asking them to send money. What I do mean is having an email marketing plan that builds a trusting relationship with your list so you can provide high quality and informative information to them.</p><p>With the increasing success of niche marketing on the internet email marketing still is an effective internet marketing technique. Niche marketing allows small, home based, entrepreneurs the opportunity to compete against the big boys! Find your niche, build your list, and be on the way to success. I am about to show you a way to drive your email marketing campaign into overdrive and create a never ending supply of cash with one press of a button.</p><p>1. Do Not Spam!!!.</p><p>Email marketing is not about spamming. It is about providing information to people that have requested you to send it to them. The information you send to them must be valuable to their interests.</p><p>2. It Starts with a Powerful Subject Line.</p><p>If you can’t get them to open it then your success rate will be zilch. The trust factor comes back into play here. When your name or company name appears in the subject line and you are recognized as sending them quality information your emails are more likely to get opened. Other effective tips to use include: using extra white space creatively, adding text symbols, starting each word with a capital letter, and ask questions. DO NOT make any outlandish or unbelievable claims, that just tends to turn people off and they think you are a scam artist.</p><p>3. Use the Power of Information and Your Subscriber&#8217;s Own Interests to Make the Sale.</p><p>You do not want to come off sounding like you are trying to sell them something. People want information so they can make informed decisions. By giving them information on topics they are interested in they are more likely to purchase from you at some point in time. Be genuine and have their interests at heart, believe me that this type of marketing will pay greater dividends in the long run.</p><p>4. Content is the Difference!</p><p>The content of the body of your email is critical to your success. Don’t make it too long and keep the fluff out by being concise. Tell them the information, describe the benefits of the product or service and let them decide. When you set up your email marketing campaign, remember that not every email you send has to have a potential sale in it. In fact it is best if it doesn’t because people get tired of being hassled and asked to spend money. Send them emails that include interesting articles about their interests, or simply a link referring them to a web site that they may like. The best way to reach out to your subscribers is to send them useful information. By doing this you will build trust and they will view you as a partner in their success.</p><p>Compiling a list of subscribers and sending them quality information is a very effective internet marketing technique. Remember to keep the information simple, the message honest, and build their trust with great content.
